Man I love Belgian ales, espcially the strong ales.  They’re the kind of ales you can sit back on and sip while you ponder a few things like life, work, and how the hell did they get that bubble gum aroma in this. But it works…it’s like a playground, a bubbly, high abv play ground…for your mouth.  I’m normally not one to keep my nose in the glass for too long, but I make an exception for the better Belgians.  I haven’t developed the pallet nor the vocabulary yet to describe the aromas or flavors that hit me, but it’s a mix between flowers and candy.  But shit, that’s good. Right now I’m trying a PranQster Belgian Style Golden Ale from the North Coast Brewing Co.  Though not as strong (*only* 7.6%) as some other Belgian ales, it doesn’t need to be that strong. (I don’t think that’s even a criticism, it’s not labeled as a strong ale). It’s freaking delcious and goes down smooth. The flavors and aromas and that special sort of buzz (I hear it’s from the candy sugar) definity help create a euphoric, meditative state.  That must be why the Monks are so into it. Take care, drink well and be well.  Cheers.
